Theatrical model shoot

Having found a really cool old venue in Manchester-The Hipperdrome in Hulme an 1800's built theatre which is in dire need of restoration; the man in charge Tony Wright very kindly allowed me and model Portia to do a shoot there. It's always a challenge when using studio lights on location lack of space, lack of power points but I think I pulled it off on this shoot. The idea was to bring out some of the theatre's wonderful decor,as a backdrop for the model. Particularly the stained glass "Exit" doors(bottom pictures)which were an important feature of the building for this photoshoot.Portia gave some good poses, and I tried some unusual angles to try and get as much of the doors into the photos.

Boudoir shoot

Hired a Manchester stylish apartment last week for a lingerie boudoir style model shoot, using mainly daylight. With the delightful EloraB from Model Mayhem.

We were hoping to achieve a wistful relaxed editorial style photo shoot in the bedroom shots, whilst still being sexy. The bathroom shot above was playful glamour shot. Hope the apartment cleaners didnt mind all the lipstick on the mirror.

Beckiimay

For this photo shoot with Model Mayhem model Beckiimay the idea was a clash of ideas. On one hand we had a glamour style shoot(red lipstick, partial nudity)then the religious iconic theme of a crown of thorns, handmade by Liv Free also a model as well as making accesories.
You can see the headpiece here,it was real and sharp! Care was taken not to press it down too far onto Beckii's head! Using the red lipstick I wrote on her arms ,in mock self harm imagery but also it obviously being lipstick lent itself to glamour angle.Other shots on the website eventually-will show the words "repent" and "Sacrifice" on her left arm.
For this shot below, which was inspired partly by fashion photographer Miranda Kerr and partly by scenes in horror film Jacob's Ladder where strange faces blurred as they thrashed around. It took numerous attempts using motion blur flash technique, having Beckii move her head during exposure. A little post processing to give it an ethereal look and maybe it was something near my vision.
More shots will be featured on my Fashion photography website soon(at time of writing this anyway!) anyone wishing to have a portfolio photoshoot get in touch via the site above. Thanks.

Lisa.

New Year first new photo shoot. Obligatory Model Mayhem model Lisa Giselle. The theme was glamour, FHM NUTS style. Lisa was lots of fun and had arranged a MUA too, which was something new to me!
I generally do some fashion shots on every shoot, but as Lisa hadnt brought much in the way of clothes(one dress!)so it was underwear and sexy topless all the way! Some shots here, more will be added to model portfolio soon.

Technical details are very simple, two lights in shoot through umbrellas at either side of Lisa. If you like these shots and would like a shoot, contact me at www.hairflicksmodelphotography.co.uk

Misty York.

Photographed model Sophie Brown in York on location! In December,in freezing cold and murky conditions. Yes a really good idea!
I thought a photoshoot in York would be interesting as it does have some interesting places, sadly the weather had other ideas, fog/mist and damp made everything dreary.
Sophie, me her Mum and friend headed over to the Minster then to the Shambles, trying to find places to shoot. It was a busy day-people everywhere- and the light was poor ISO 800 wasnt really sufficient but I hate shooting any higher. The best shots were taken in front of a fairground pitched in a shopping precinct! It provided much needed colour to the photos, with minimal depth of field the carousel was nicely out of focus. As seen here:-
Finally we set up outside the art gallery a small water feature/fountain provided a fairly decent point of interest.Always good to have some foreground interest for location fashion shoots too, just as much as background(in previous pic). In this photo the metal ornate railings with building behind them add some detail to the background .
Using a 70-300mm zoom lens I was able to compress the distance between Sophie and the water jets, and keeping them just out of focus made a pleasant backdrop to shot. Keeping attention on the model at all times. This shot has a nice casual feel to it, the open jacket and loose scarf signify winter without having to wrap up tight.
My last blog of 2010, soon I will be posting some best of shots from the year. If you are interested in modelling, get in touch for a model portfolio shoot.

Zara Abigail

Gorgeous redhead Zara Abigail had a model shoot with me recently, with a mass of red curls which came in handy on some shots. Abigail was classic fashion model size, slim and tall ,and we rattled through a two and a half hour shoot on a  high fashion theme. Later that day she came second in a national beauty contest too, so a job well done.See more shots of Zara in the fashion photography gallery

Ellie Ward shoot

Had a pretty girl for a Hairflicksmodelphotography shoot recently, Ellie Ward. Ellie is an up and coming fashionmodel and is always a delight to photograph, having photographed her before. She is inspired by popstar Pixie Lott so that was the looks we aimed for. She brought along some magazine cuttings of Pixie Lott for us to copy. Ellie has some great outfits and her enthusiasm helped to ctreate some fun shots seen below. Made for a fun model shoot as always.See more photographs in model gallery, thanks.
